BLIS Workshops are open to all Bethel staff, substitute teachers and student teachers unless otherwised noted in the workshop's description. Certified staff will receive the district credits and PDUs listed in the seminar description. You must know your DataPort password to register. Don't know? Email Tim Goss. 2072 - STOP THE BLEED: Join Nathan Kunasek, a Eugene Springfield Firefighter, for a unique training opportunity that falls under the Good Samaritan Act. This is a series of two, 1-hour classes, and each participant who successfully completes the course will leave with a certificate of completion and a medical kit ($70 value) to place in their classroom. The first session will be lecture. The second session will include hands-on practice on mannequins and prosthetics. Nathan is volunteering his time to teach Stop the Bleed, a program that teaches hemorrhage control and can save lives prior to the arrival of emergency responders- much like CPR. 2070 - NUMBER TALKS: You are invited to participate in a math professional development opportunity called Number Talks. Number Talks are five- to fifteen-minute classroom conversations around purposefully crafted problems that are solved mentally. It supports teachers in understanding how to follow students' thinking and how to pose the right questions to build understanding. It supports students in mental calculation, reasoning, communication and number sense.

2073 - AUTISM IN THE CLASSROOM: We will do a series of 3 classes throughout the year. Our learning targets will include understanding the characteristics of autism, how they may show up in the classroom, and some ideas for supporting students on the spectrum in their academic and social activities. I can plan for additional topics of interest.

2074 - GOOGLE SUITE FOR CLASSIFIED: All Bethel Classified staff can request a Bethel Google Suite account. This class will focus on the basics of Google Suite, the digital needs of classified staff and how Google Suite can help meet those needs. 2066 - SIOP TRAINING (Secondary Teachers Only):
SIOP Training Day 1 (November 16): (full day) Learn what SIOP is and how it can help students who are learning English. You will leave this training with many easy to prep activities that you can use with all of your students in all content areas.

SIOP Training Day 2 (December 20): (1/2 day) Reflect on your implementation of SIOP strategies so far, plan for future lessons, and learn a more effective ways to help students who are learning English.

1888 - JUST GOOGLE FORMS INDEPENDENT STUDY: Google Forms is a great way to collect information from colleagues, students, parents and community members. With Google Forms you can easily create an online survey or test and then either send your audience a link, post a link online or post the form in your WordPress site. Spend an hour with these resources to get 1 PDU and 0.1 District Credit. And don’t forget to Register Now so we can add your PDU and 0.1 District Credit once you’ve turned in your Exit Ticket at the bottom of the online class.

1864 - GOOGLE CLASSROOM VIRTUAL CLASS: Welcome to the Google Classroom Independent Study Hour. Spend an hour with these resources to get 1 PDU and 0.1 District Credit. Google Classroom is a blended learning platform for schools that aim to simplify creating, distributing and grading assignments in a paperless way. Google Classroom can be a time saver and an exciting way to engage students in technology even if your students only have one hour a week in the lab.
